Learn about Taxes...

Taxes are fees or charges imposed by the state on its citizens based upon transactions (sale or transfers) or property value to finance
government activities. It is the duty of a citizen to pay and file taxes. Because various tax laws and codes can be difficult to understand, people often look out for tax help when the tax time rolls around.
Most people seek tax help when they are not able to figure out the complicated tax rules. Fear of making mistakes on their taxes and the
subsequent troubles with the IRS are other reasons why people seek tax help. Finding an appropriate person or firm can seem difficult, but there are many options for people confused by their taxes.
Consulting tax professional or using tax preparation software are the two main tax help options. If you are planning to consult a tax professional then it is better to consult one who is experienced in tax preparation. Approaching trained tax professionals or firms is the easiest way to get tax help. Tax preparation professionals are well aware of the rules and regulations of IRS, and they can easily prepare your tax return, while answering all your questions.
Today, many professionals and tax preparation firms have launched tax preparation software, making the job much easier than it used to be. These software programs are created with the user in mind and are designed to be very easy to use. Tax software can handle all the complex calculations. The user only needs to enter the relevant figures and answer some simple questions – the software does the rest. Before deciding on the right software, it is better to do a thorough research on the Internet and select the one that best suits your needs. Also, do not forget to use the latest version of the software , as tax rules and regulations change frequently.

On April 18th, 1775, Paul Revere rode to Lexington yelling, "The British are coming, the British are coming!" These days, around the
same time of year and in similar panicked tones, we can hear field reporters from our TVs yelling, "Tax day is coming, Tax day is
coming!"
'Tax day' is just around the corner, so what? I am going to tell you why you might NOT want to file your taxes by April 15th.
Any taxpayer can get an automatic six-month extension of time to file, which moves the filing deadline to October 15th, instead of
April 15th, just by filing in a Form 4868 before April 15th. But why would you want to?
Audits are a time consuming nuisance, and many tax pros think you can substantially reduce your chances of a random audit if you
wait to file your return as late as possible. Here's why...
Near the end of each year, the IRS determines how many random audits they have the manpower to conduct in the new tax-year.
Then they program their computers to "kick out" that number of returns on a random basis. Once the computer hits that "maximum"
number, it stops selecting returns for random audits.
This begs the question, "What if the computer hits that 'maximum" number before October 15th - the date you would file your Tax
Return?" It seems that you would then have a zero percent chance of being selected by the computer, because the computer isn't
selecting any more returns, right?
Now while the majority of audits are "random" audits, the IRS conducts audits that are done for other reasons and filing an
extension would not affect that.
Also remember that an "Extension of Time to File" is NOT an extension of time to PAY taxes that you owe. If you owe taxes, you
must make that payment by April 15th or incur late payment penalties.
Filing for an extension may save you from a tax audit and will definitely save you from the being one of the last minute tax filers invading
the post office just before midnight, while the reporter out front yells, "The taxpayers are coming, the taxpayers are coming!"
